Hahoe Folk Village


Hahoe Folk Village (안동 하회 마을; Andong Hahoe Maeul) is a traditional village located in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. The location is in the child hand Nakdong River that forms the letter S, consisting of traditional Korean houses (hanok). There are 130 pieces of hanok aged between 300-500 years. Categorized as traditional as the villagers still maintain the way of life and tradition of the Joseon Dynasty.

This village is the home of the origin of several major clan groups from the Joseon period, as Pungsan Yu.

Various art performances and traditional games are held here, among others Hahoe-gut Byeolsin Talnori and Seonyujul Bulnori. Hahoe Byeolsin-gut Talnori ballet mask is derived from the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) that as a cultural heritage.
